Fire Chief Joseph Hess

Having grown up in Scott Valley, Joseph Hess joined Fort Jones Fire Department in 2015 after serving as an explorer and firefighter with Scott Valley Fire. Throughout the years, he has become a vital member of the department, obtaining his CSFM Firefighter 1 and 2 certifications as well as Swift Water Rescue, Rope Rescue Tech, Engine Boss, State Instructor certifications, and many more. In addition to fire certifications Joseph is a paramedic and also helps out with the local ambulance agency. Joseph rose through the ranks fulfilling the duties of Lieutenant and Captain before being appointed to the position of Fire Chief in September 2021.
